Teen/Adult Learn-to-Sail Course 2008

Canadian Forces Bases Kingston Yacht Club is conducting one 2 week Learn-to-Sail course 30 June-12 July 2008, using the Club’s CL 14 sailing dinghies.

The course takes place at the Base Yacht Club adjacent to Arrowhead Beach, weekdays 1700 to 2100 hrs, and Saturdays 0900-1700hrs, with emphasis on hands-on, in-the-water training. Applicants must have good swimming ability and weigh over 100 lbs to be able to safely sail these boats.

Instruction is given by a certified Canadian Yachting Association instructor, providing trainees with progressive instruction through CYA levels White Sail 1, 2 and 3.

Equipment Required: Trainees are responsible to provide their own personal protection items, ie, hat, sunscreen, bathing suit, non-marking shoes (sandals not recommended), cotton gloves (optional), change of clothing, and weather gear to suit. Boats, PFD, and other required safety equipment is supplied.

Cost is $275.60 including GST for members of Kingston Garrison, and $349.80 including GST for others. For Kingston Garrison adults, a Club Dinghy Membership for 2008 is included in the cost of the course, which, after qualification to the White Sail Three level, allows them to sail Club dinghies for the rest of the season at no charge.
