Prinyer's Cove

This is where to find Prinyers Cove. The twin towers of the Lennox Generating Station are a hard to miss landmark. Kerr Bay on Amherst Island is a great place to anchor if you are finding the headwinds to be too much.

Chart 2064 covers the whole distance from CFBKYC to Prinyer's Cove.

This is the marina located on the South side of the cove, just before you come to the green quonset hut. There is a pump out, washrooms, showers, laundry, and power on all slips. The marina charges $1 / ft / night for slips also rents ball moorings located just off their docks for $20 / night (2006).

The marina docks have been entirely rebuilt two years ago. As well, the building has been expanded to include a "Country Store" where you can buy everything from bacon to ice cream.

For reservations, contact Barb & Doug Houghton at 613-476-6835. They also monitor VHF 68.

You can also anchor around the cove. Many boats anchor opposite the marina, as well as 100m East of the marina off the cradle storage area.

The shores of Prinyer's Cove are dotted with beautiful homes and cottages. Steeped deeply in the history of the Loyalists, the cove was formerly known as "McDonnell Cove" after an early Scottish settler.

If you land at the marina and walk up the drive to the main road, turning left will take you along a shaded country lane to Indian Point. There you can see one of the last working fish plants on Lake Ontario.

Turning right makes for a shorter walk to the alpaca farm. Look for the "Alpaca Crossing" sign on the barn.

This is Prinyer's Cove, taken from the marina dock. The two stacks in the background are the Lennox Generating Station - you can see them as well from the mouth of Deadman's Bay. So it's hard to get lost!
