Sackets Harbor, NY
Sackets
Harbour was the US Navy dockyard and stronghold during the War of
1812. The historic battlefield park commemorates the famous British raid
on Sackets Harbour in May 1813.

excellent restaurants such as "Tin
Pan Galley" and "The
Sackets Harbor Brewing
Company" catering to many military visitors from nearby Fort
Drum. There is a grocery store in Madison Barracks, a 15 minute walk away.

Dining at The Boathouse on West Main St.
Navy Point Marina is on the very site of the former naval dockyard. It
is a full service marina with a boat repair facility and excellent visitor
slips, laundry, and a nice swimming area. Visitors should call ahead at

Historic
Battlefield State Park
Sackets is an easy although long sail from Main Duck Island or Kingston
on the prevailing SW winds. From Main Duck, Gallo Island becomes visible
as soon as you clear Yorkshire Island.
As
you approach the Black River, head directly for the distinctive Madison
Point water tower. Cape Vincent NY is a great stopover on the way back
to Kingston.
